Characters
The Fan Fiction Shop is located in the upper part of the central district district. It can't be missed, being the only shop crammed full with books and bright lights. The owner of the shop is Chris the Cynic and the co-owner is walton simons, who looks just like Walton Simons but is not him. In the lower area of the shop, the player can find jimmycracker who gives you an easy job to obtain his old family heirloom in return for credits which the player can use to pass Phasmatis's initial test. Both Chris the Cynic and walton simons can give the player a lot of background information about Deus Ex. The topics change between the first and second day.

Fan Fiction
Another interesting thing about the Fan Fic Shop are the actual fan fiction the player can read. Two of them are exposed on the first and second floor.
Twist
On the first floor the player can read the fan fiction "Twist". During day 1 chapters 1 till 7 are availbale, during day 2 chapters 7 till 13. Twist starts out with JC Denton attempting to escape from UNATCO HQ after being imprisoned by Gunther. Up to this point the actions coincide with the original story in Deus Ex. Unfortunately JC doesn't make it out alive of the building, but is shot down by Gunther himself which is an important variation to the original game story as Gunther is not to be found in UNATCO at that point in the story. With both Dentons dead, the hope of various people gets smashed up on the wall. This story describes what happens after this unexpected turn of events. Players with faint nerves might want to skip chapter 3 as it revolves around "dismantling" JC. In general this fan fiction has a very dark and desperate tone, but captures well the hopeless situation the various parties find themselves in with their main hope no longer amongst the living.
Unknown Motives
The second fan fiction named "Unknown Motives" is shorter, comprising only 6 chapters, and can be found on the upper floor. On the first day you can find chapters 1 till 4, and the prologue on the counter. During day 2 you can find chapters 3 till 6. This story sets out after JC blew up the Aquinas Hub plunging the world into global chaos. Since not all places on earth trusted Aquinas, some places managed to uphold their own emergency power grids. The protagonist, whose name is not known to the player, finds himself struggling exhausted from endless running to find a safe place to rest for the first time in many days. He unknowingly ends up at Château DuClair, a familiar place to players of the original Deus Ex. For reasons unknown, some organization has chosen him as a new agent to reverse the mistake JC Denton commited in blowing up Aquinas. Taking a rest from the dire days before his arrival, the protagonist receives an augmentation rig similar to the one JC Denton started out with, but with certain augmentations preinstalled. Now named Agent Tiberius, he receives the task to meet a certain Omatsu in Tokyo to get his journey started.
Furthermore, a very short description of the small time period where JC Denton just triggered the fatal destruction of the Aquinas Hub can be found on the counter of the shop owner as well as Kieron Gillen's original review of Deus Ex from PC Gamer UK. The player should definitely visit this place and snoop around the various text fragments. It is recommended to disable transparency on the GUI as otherwise it can be difficult to read the white text against the light colored and well lit background of the shop itself. Have fun reading.
