Fire now comes with a core of steel! Let's see you handle this! -Deus Diablo

Deus Diablo's Fireblade is one of the most powerful melee weapons in the game. It's as damaging as the Dragon's Tooth Sword and sets your enemies on fire as well.

The FireBlade has been majorly modified with each and every patch. In version 1.0.0 it just set people on fire, making it rather weak as the FireStaff did that at a range for a slot less. In version 1.0.1 it got a single 100 damage strike added to it, making it without question the best melee weapon in all of The Nameless Mod, combining unparalleled destructive power with massive damage. However with the 1.0.2 patch the sword was downgraded to not only being a Dragon's Tooth Sword (20 x 5 damage) with a fire effect, but with the same movement penalties as a heavy weapon for users who were untrained in low-tech weaponary. In the 1.0.3 patch the Fireblade's reach has been increased to 112 units (approximately a foot greater than the nanosword) and the movement penalty has also been reduced.

Obtaining it

After finishing the game at least once, in your next game visit Raving's Weapon Shop on day 2 to find an exclusive offer to you by Raving Nutter. It costs 1000 credits to buy the weapon, and if you've stolen from the shop you won't get the opportunity to buy it as Raving will attack you on sight. Alternatively, kill Deus Diablo when you meet him on HTTP GameSpy and loot his body.

Description

UNIQUE WEAPON:
The firey blade is the trademark of Deus Diablo, third moderator of PDX Forum City. It's a very versatile blade, good for several different purposes: Smiting trolls and spammers, commanding fear and respect from the general population, and lighting the grill for a barbeque. It also does a great job being a torch if you run out of energy for your light aug.

Usage

Few things can match this weapon in close quarters. Any enemy who does not die in one hit will be set on fire (unless they have Energy Shield), and it looks pretty cool to boot. It does however take up one more inventory slot than a DTS and is rather heavy. Also note that bringing a sword to a raging gun battle is usually not advisable, no matter how big your sword is (use of the Speed Enhancement aug to take out foes before they can fight back is recommended). Also for sheer destructive power on doors, alarms, cameras and turrets you should probably revert to Digital Ronin's Katana, but keep in mind that with mastery in low-tech weaponry and at least level 3 Combat Strength, the Fireblade will destroy those objects.
