Role on ForumPlanet
The Firewall system, developed by Evil Invasion, is the primary tool that the moderators use to keep order and peace in Forum City. They serve the role of policemen in that they are used to patrol the streets, keeping an eye out for violence and law-breaking, and guard certain areas such as roadblocks and the DXI excavation site. Due to their limited AI (which is "near-human" according to a Firewall Agent) they must be controlled by the moderators, which takes up much of their time during the game.
They appear to be bot-like humans in that they are very vulnerable to EMP weaponry, but also bleed and respond to damage like humans. They come in two flavors: Officers, which wear police officer-like vests, and Agents, who wear orange trenchcoats, have the ability to Cloak and are generally stronger, as well as packing more heat.
Role in Game
In the beginning of the game, when you have to get a subway pass, a Firewall Agent guarding the blockade to the west will give you 500 credits to take care of the N00Bz gang. The Firewalls are inherently hostile to members of the N00bz gang, which can help with a more forceful solution.
The Firewalls will turn hostile towards you if they find you committing crimes such as attacking people, and breaking into and entering the various stores in downtown. They may also turn hostile if they detect the bodies of other Firewalls, even during the battle with WorldCorp after DXI.
After DXI, in the PDX storyline, the Firewalls are your allies who fight against the WorldCorp commandos and thugs in the Corporate District. In the WC storyline, the Firewalls are your enemies who seek to arrest you in all three districts.
Locations
Firewalls are present in fairly large numbers in all sectors, as well as the inside of the PDX HQ and the PDX Server Complex.
