Automated gun turrets form a valuable role in security systems: shooting people to death with bullets. This is aided by a fairly high rate of fire and immunity to most weapons, making direct assault a poor choice for intruders. TNM features two types of gun turrets: the original bullet-based kind and a slightly more dangerous flamethrower turret with a more limited range. Both types of autoturrets use RADAR for detection, so only Radar Transparency will allow an agent to sneak by. Some guns have a very limited area in which they can actually fire, as they are not particularly flexible, and the gun turns fairly slowly, so it's possible to avoid getting shot too badly if one simply runs and takes cover.
The targeting mechanism for autoturrets varies; some turrets will only target players if an alarm has been sounded, and others will target players whenever active. Autoturrets are most easily avoided through bypassing using security terminals, and can be destroyed with any attack dealing a single amount of at least 50 damage, and are disabled temporarily by EMP damage. They are also bypassed by Multitools, though it may be difficult to bypass a gun that's shooting at you.
