Deus Ex: Invisible War is a sequel for Deus Ex released in 2003 in North America and (in an impressive "fuck you" to most of the world) 2004 everywhere else. The sequel is set 15 years after the original game and attempts to merge the three endings of its predecessor into a single storyline from which to continue the plot.

Plot

Invisible War casts you as Alex Denton (apparently not the same Alex Denton as seen in a vat in Area 51 at the end of Deus Ex) as he/she attempts to navigate a plot so convoluted and so lacking in high-level goals that it's frankly impossible to summarise. Memorable locations visited during the game include Seattle, Kairo, Trier, Antarctica, and Liberty Island, New York.

Gameplay

Invisible War includes many changes to the original gameplay, including the merger of all ammunition types into one Universal Ammunition type, a more involved augmentation system with less long-term commitment, a simplified inventory system, a vastly simplified hacking system which no longer features readable emails, the complete omission of the original skill system, and claustrophobically tiny levels. On the plus side, it features the most hilariously overenthusiastic Havok Physics system ever implemented in a game, and the artificial intelligence is slightly less terrible than it was in the first game.

It should be noted that in spite of the snarkiness above, Invisible War is a pretty good game in its own right, it just doesn't hold up very well compared to its predecessor.

It should be further noted that this entry is incredibly biased, and should be taken as such, but if you want objective articles, we invite you to consult Wikipedia instead.
