Loading Hints
From The Nameless Mod
TNM version 1.0.2 and later features many loading screen hints, and some people with faster machines have mentioned that it can be difficult to read them.
If you want to return to the Loading Quotes from earlier versions, type "Quotes" during the Credits.
List of hints
This is a complete list of loading screen hints as per version 1.0.4:
- Save early, save often, and save in different slots. Trust us on this one.
- You can purchase multitools and lockpicks from the vending machines in Raving's Weapon Shop.
- Be careful not to kill unconscious people by accident.
- Vending machines no longer steal your credits without asking.
- With only a single exception, augmentations are never for sale.
- Remember to check your goals if you're stuck.
- Remember to check your notes and images for maps and other intel.
- Upgrade the Targeting aug to see what augmentations enemies have.
- If the subtitles cut off in widescreen, consider playing in windowed mode.
- You can increase fist damage by using the Combat Strength augmentation.
- If you're short on multitools or lockpicks, look for other ways to your objective.
- Every augmentation in the game is available at least twice, except the first.
- Your Egg count is stored independently of savegames.
- Killing people for no good reason may have undesirable consequences.
- Carpe Diem: Don't save up your money. Spend freely. Consumerism is its own reward.
- If you feel that you're constantly short on items, lower the Item Quantity difficulty setting next time.
- The Central District is commonly referred to as Downtown. The West Residence district is called the Slums.
- Coffee restores your health slightly more than soda (and in the game!)
- Upgrade your Demolition skill to make molotovs from bottles of wine and household chemicals.
- Three types of gloves are available, one for each skill level above Untrained.
- If you find yourself spending a lot of time in unlit tunnels, consider upgrading your Light aug.
- The fire extinguisher is no longer a one-use item, but functions more like a weapon with no reloads.
- The NPC Quantity difficulty setting only affects enemies, not civilians or plot characters.
- With a bit of practice, the rice bag launcher is surprisingly effective.
- A few major characters have the Vision Enhancement aug. Cloak will not work on them.
- Remember that Firewalls are vulnerable to EMP damage.
- The riot prod is invaluable for non-lethal takedowns.
- Do not underestimate the power of pepper spray liberally applied to an opponent's face.
- You can't go everywhere in a single playthrough. Some areas will be closed depending on your choices.
- Taking the time to properly explore the world can pay back dividends.
- You may be able to find somebody to help you out on IRC if you get stuck.
- Aim at the back of an opponent's head to deal maximum damage.
- A unique weapon is only available once. Throw it away, and it's gone for good.
- You can use augmentation canisters to upgrade installed augs of the same type.
- Upgrade your Light aug once to eliminate its power drain. Useful for explorers.
- The Power Recirculator doesn't need to be activated, it's always on with no power drain.
- Stack objects to get to areas too high to reach. This is easier with Microfibral Muscle.
- Upgrading Computers to trained will make your life considerably easier.
- Don't want to use your lockpicks on a door? Consider blowing it up instead.
- ATM accounts are global and can be accessed from any machine.
- The plasma rifle can shoot through walls, just not very far.
- The PS20 can be stacked in your inventory.
- Think outside the box: There's no fight you can't think your way out of by being creative.
- If enemies glow when you shoot them, they're augmented. The glow colour indicates what aug is used.
- Stealth works on every enemy in the game. Yes, even those ones at the end, you know the ones.
- If you're finding it very difficult to sneak, consider getting the Cloak aug when it's available.
- Be sure to stock up on items and ammo before going on a mission, it pays to be prepared.
- You can copy/paste text from your notes eg. into computer screens - useful for complicated passwords.
- Fire extinguishers can also be used to blind enemies like tear gas or temporarily block laser beams.
- Remember that grenade climbing (though fun) is cheating, and almost guaranteed to break immersion.
