Scramble grenades can be used to turn hostile robots friendly to the player for a short duration. The most effective way to exploit that would be to use them on robots surrounded by organic hostiles. When such situations are encountered (more often later in the game) this grenade can be truly devastating.
Obtaining it
Scramble grenades are rarer throughout TNM than all other types of grenades. Your first chance to obtain them would be in Phasmatis' Apartment, in the basement inside some cardboard boxes (except on the highest item difficulty). Later, they can be bought rather cheaply from a Vending machine in Raving's Weapon Shop.
Description
The detonation of a GUARDIAN scramble grenade broadcasts a short-range, polymorphic broadband assault on the command frequencies used by almost all bots manufactured since 2001. The ensuing electronic storm causes bots within its radius of effect to indiscriminately attack other bots until command control can be re-established. Like a LAM, scramble grenades can be attached to any surface.
Usage
You can use these grenades as a trap, but it's usually far more efficient to throw them at your target. For a short duration, the robot will attack your enemies, after which it returns to being hostile again. If the robot is not surrounded by other robots or hostiles, it's probably better to take it out with a LAM or an EMP Grenade. After the robot has taken out your targets, it would be wise to destroy the robot before the grenade's effect wears off. While still under the effect of the grenade, the robot will not respond to you shooting it.
