Difficulty nerfing
Why exactly has the sub terrain area been so crippled in the patches? Granted the turret room could be a pain if you did not have the proper items or skills on board but the other changes had been a bit superfluous. The fire room had been no problem even without having any fire extinguisher on you and the electricity room required just a bit of fast moving and a bit of luck. The way it is now it's like a walk in the park.--Dragonlord 18:25, 7 June 2009 (UTC)
- There was a series of obstacles that could only be passed by taking damage (or in the case of the fire room, by knowing what was going to happen before it happened). Some players managed to get thoroughly stuck there because they had no healing resources and not enough hitpoints left to make it alive through all three traps. --Jonas 20:11, 7 June 2009 (UTC)
- Medpacks? They are certainly not the only places in TNM where you HAVE to take damage. Hassat Hunter 20:23, 7 June 2009 (UTC)
- Mandatory damage, as a difficulty device, is a rather cheap device for a game to use and is the game-side equivalent of a cheating player. Not that it can't be done right, but as a practice it is generally frowned upon.
- Still, it's used several times in TNM regardless, most noticably ShadowCode himself, and somewhere in DXI, where is immediately followed up with a medpack as 'patch'... Hassat Hunter 12:39, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

English
Just a note, I cleaned up a bit of grammar and spelling in this topic. No offense to anybody's bad spelling/grammar, but as something of an English nerd, I'll clean it up where I see it. A few notes for general reference:
- Pronouns: Admin Password, as written, implies it's a pronoun: a name or a place. It's neither and should be written admin password, even if it's something you go get, it still does not qualify.
- Possessiveness vs. Plural: The misuse of the apostrophe symbol. I fixed the word camera's to say cameras when a plural was intended. With the apostrophe, we imply possessiveness, and the next word is expected to be something the camera possesses, such as its line of sight. Trickier still is it's vs. its. In this case its is the possessive, as in its line of sight (again referring to the camera) and it's is a contraction for it is.
- Commas and semicolons: Very commonly underutilized. Semicolons are complex, so their misuse or omission is forgivable, but commas being omitted looks sloppy.
- Spelling errors: Sallary and Seperated are spelled Salary and Separated, respectfully. There were a couple others, but those stand out in memory.
- Queen's vs. Colonial English: No such problems in this article, but I'll ignore these. It seems like a lot of people who worked on the game are outside America, but the shuttle leaving ABI is clearly leaving the Southern California (e.g. Los Angeles) area, so I'm not sure how to cut it. I can write in either, and if an article is one way, I'll stick with that style. If it's both, I'll use American English, what I was taught.
A bit more than I intended to post, but if it helps just one person write better, it will have been worth it. DarkRealityX 06:29, 8 June 2009 (UTC)
- Feel free to fix whatever you can. I do my best to clean up when I find errors, but an extra helping hand is appreciated. The difference between UK and US English has been problematic for me for a long time because I'm heavily exposed to both, and never with notes about which is which. I'm working on it, but suffice to say, most of the game was written by a Dane aspiring to consistent UK English but failing. Parts of it was also worked on by Americans, Brits, an Indian... it's sort of a mess. You'll want to not think too much about the geography of ForumPlanet as seen in the final mission, ForumPlanet isn't really supposed to look like Earth, but we didn't have any active 2D artists by then, so I had to do that skybox myself, and it was all I could do to just grab a photo of Earth. --Jonas 12:46, 8 June 2009 (UTC)
- No damage done. After all it's forum "planet" so using an earth as sky box is not that much off.--Dragonlord 13:33, 8 June 2009 (UTC)
- Blame dutch language always adding 's to plural stuff. Makes me do it in english too even when not intended. Capitalised the "Admin Password" just to make it stand out as goal (which is also why I capitalised all "Rooms" that Jonas changed to "room". As for the spelling stuff; I just suck ;P Hassat Hunter 12:39, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
- I'd rather have lots of imperfect content than very little perfect content. It's easier to fix up poor grammar in existing articles than writing them from scratch : ) --Jonas 21:28, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
- True true. We must really make the Jonas Waever page someday soon, eh. So many other minor chars already have a page, and you not... :( Hassat Hunter 13:57, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
- I don't want to make it myself - I must maintain some pretense of modesty ; ) --Jonas 14:50, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
