I've found myself transported to World of Warcraft.
Trestkon is the Player Character featured in TNM. Trestkon can be customized with 5 different facial textures and can be made to wear a trench coat and/or shades.
Role on ForumPlanet
Trestkon used to work for the PDXCIS along with Kylie, Wolfy, Alpha Operator, Winquman, and Phasmatis. When the PDXCIS was disbanded, Trestkon was nominated for the position of moderator but turned down the position for unexplained reasons and left Forum City. The moderator position was then given to Deus Diablo.
When Deus Diablo disappears, Phasmatis calls Trestkon back to Forum City to investigate the disappearance.
Role in Game
As the player's avatar, Trestkon's purpose is to grant the player a presence in the game's world and a function in the plot. Like Deus Ex's JC Denton, Trestkon has a limited, not-fully-explained personal history and starts the game with a established connections to a few of the other characters. This provides a hook for the player to understand their role in the game.
Unlike JC Denton, however, Trestkon is not a blank slate when it comes to personality. It is established that he has previously been known as a dependable person, that he was popular amongst the community, and that he preferred to avoid collateral damage on his missions. Rather than avoiding overt emotions in Trestkon's script, as was done for JC Denton, Trestkon's emotions are generally based on the player's previous actions (most commonly the player's choice of allegiances) or even offered as a dialogue choice to the player.
Development
Trestkon, though nominally based on Lawrence Laxdal's avatar, has very little in common with Lawrence, primarily because his personality will depend to some extent on the player's actions and choices.
It was not Lawrence's idea to use himself as the protagonist of TNM. The team managed to convince him that it was a good idea after a long discussion.
